Quizzes

It's ironic that this is the section that spurred the whole website in the first place. I just wanted a place on the web where I could put all my questions up. Guess that cause has been greatly, and not too unwillingly, sidelined! As of now, this page does not link to any deeper levels of content. It is just a log of quizzes I have conducted.

Since my first inter-school quiz in the fourth grade to now, I've seen, quite literally, quizzes of all shapes and sizes. From the country-capital-currency yearbook type to the Bournvita Quiz Contest type (though I don't have much respect left for it, I must concede, at least literally, that it's in a class of its own!) to the stronger and more captivating quizzes of KCircle Hyderabad and IIT Madras.  In a way I'm somewhat torn between the two very different approaches of KC and IIT (or is it Madras at large?).

The questions in KC are short (well within one's attention span). They're somewhat more appealing to even the non-quizzers, because they also cover topics that everyone can identify with. Their answers lie in neat facts. That's facts as opposed to concepts, explanations and theses that go into the answer of an average two-paragraph, one-in-ten-question-theme, not-as-often-about-J.R.R. Tolkien's Lord Of The Rings-as-outsiders-love-to-tease-us-for IITM question (phew!...like noun like adjective!).

But they do often cross over into each other's territories. KC and IITM aren't so strictly the way I've described them. In any case, the final answer carries a tremendous feel-good value, either for what you learn from the unguessable ones, or from the sheer scope for intelligent guessing in the others. That is what good quizzes are about.

The following are small quizzes I did before I conducted any big quizzes in IITM. I've decided that I shall not link to the questions any longer. These quizzes lacked the methodical research that went into the bigger ones listed further below, and as such, I do not feel any extraordinary attachment to them.

The following are bigger and better quizzes that were far more satisfying to work on. However, the sheer enormity of the task of compiling publishable versions of them will require that I put it off until later, accepting the possibility that they may never actually make it online.
