Moving Woes!
There are few things in the world that I genuinely dread and avoid strenuously like a plague. Before I came to the US, since I lived at home and was mostly in school / college and since my parents didn’t exactly enjoy moving either, I had managed to get away with experiencing the process of uprooting ourselves only twice in my life. But now, for the first time since I landed in St. Louis, I have to move into a new apartment like most people do in the summer every year - help! The WSJ reported that Americans move in very large numbers every year and very often too! Perhaps the largest in any developed country - but I am purely guessing here.
So coming back to the story of my moving, after spending close to one a half years in 323, Clara Apt #22, this Thursday I move in with Chaks (the former President of Umang) since my dear friend Booze is finishing up his Master’s thesis and leaving St. Louis in a short while. It is going to be different not having Booze around - I have been living in close quarters with him for the last 6 years now!
This weekend Vidya and Swapna moved into their new apartment and I, alongwith RC, Rajneesh and Karthik, helped with the process. It didn’t take long - what with the human chain that we formed to dispatch things efficiently.
And coming to cars - Toyota Motor Inc. should probably be giving me a commission or something. Anybody would admit that I am single handedly responsible for so many people, whom I counsel on such matters, ending up with a Toyota - the newest person to join the Corolla bandwagon being my dear friend Raj. On Friday she bought herself a nice 2001 Corolla LE - congratulations Raj!
So that’s the update for the weekend. It has been some time since I got down to spending some time on my current research problem so perhaps I should do that before Ron gets back from his RV trip through the continental US and asks me what in the world I have been upto while he was gone
